Scribegrove
The novel-writing studio with a real AI editor
My wife isn't a novelist. She wants to be - and that distinction is the whole reason this product exists.
She and my daughter are both dyslexic. They're also two of the most devoted readers I know - the kind of people whose to-be-read stack qualifies as furniture. And they're full of stories. Genuinely good ones: characters they've carried around for years, whole worlds they can describe out loud without missing a detail.
Almost none of it ever made it onto the page.
Watching them taught me something: imagination was never the problem. The problem is everything between the imagination and the page - spelling, structure, holding a chapter's shape in your head while you fight with the words one at a time, coming back the next day and finding your place again. For a dyslexic writer that overhead isn't an annoyance. It's a wall.
The picture I kept coming back to is our own kitchen. She's at the table writing. I'm elbow-deep in the fridge.
"How do you spell exonerate?"
"E-x-o-n-e-r-a-t-e."
"What do you think of this idea - what if the letters started arriving before she ever typed them?"
"Honestly? Chills. Keep going."
That's the job, and it became the spec. Scribegrove's editor (we call it Grove) reads the whole manuscript and points at problems - spelling, pacing, a character whose eyes changed color between chapters - with anchors into the actual passage. It handles the structure overhead: keeps series canon straight, turns your outline into a working draft when you ask it to. But it never, ever holds the pen unless you hand it over. A ghostwriter replaces you. A good kitchen companion keeps you writing.
I started in February 2025, nights and weekends, for an audience of one. The cloud version launched this month ($19.99-$49.99/mo, free trial). Solo, bootstrapped, revenue basically zero, traffic basically zero - the honest early days. My wife was the first user and she's still my toughest tester; half the changelog traces back to her finding something broken at nine o'clock at night.
If someone in your life has a story they've never been able to get onto the page - what's the wall for them? I'd genuinely like to know.
