Seamless.cloud
Severless Database Proxy Service
This morning I finished the initial query dashboard with insights on query times, # of queries run by query type, # of rows returned, and more.
It's nice to finally see some insights and summary data on queries and how they are performing.
The service is still not open yet to the general public (I haven't worked on it in a while!), but things are finally getting to a place where you can quickly glean some real information from the service quickly.
Lots more to do, but this is a great start! 🚀
After using Seamless.cloud myself extensively while building BudgetSheet, I realized that I needed a major pivot after encountering a few pain points along the way (dogfooding, right?).
Since there were no other real customers using it, I just shut it down to new users in order to pivot and make all the necessary code changes. When I am done, it will be essentially a whole new product purpose built for what I need to build my own apps.
Plans for the future:
I may eventually open it back up for user registrations as a SaaS tool, but I really want to make it perfect for my own use-cases first. Seamless is a foundational, mission-critical product by nature. It's easy to build on it for my own stuff, but a little more scary to open it up as a paid and fully relied upon product. Lots of time will be spent making sure everything is right before I open it back up for end users again.
In the meantime, I am loving how the new Seamless concept is making things so much easier for me to build my own other projects with way less database work and worry, and with way more insight as well.

AWS is the new home to Seamless.cloud. I wanted to be sure the service could scale well to handle any load, as well as be able to have availability across multiple geographic zones (at least east and west as a minimum) to be closer to my customer's databases. Using AWS Elastic Beanstalk, I can deploy my app safely and securely, with all the scaling headroom I need for the future.

I really wanted to launch to production with both MySQL and PostgreSQL support, but was not able to finish the code and test it to my satisfaction until now. I have now re-deployed Seamless with the new code to add support for MySQL/MariaDB databases.
This is an important feature and milestone since MySQL is so much more widely used than PostgreSQL.

Just deployed the initial MVP of Seamless.cloud to production so I can use it with my own side projects to begin testing with.
I filled out the marketing landing page with some decent sales copy highlighting all the benefits and features of Seamless and added a bunch of great illustrations from undraw.co to make it look nice, customized to the site's accent color.
Here we go!
