I was debating whether to build my own landing page or pay for a template. I went with the latter for the following reasons.

• Didn't need a custom design, so less time spent designing
• Less time building, so I can focus on building the actual app
• I was going to build a custom email capture backend, but this forced me to use mail chimp, which will be better when I want to email out

Overall I'm pretty happy with the results from using Dorik.

The first goal of any business plan should be to work out why you want to build a business. Money is never the end goal. Optimizing for money could come at the expense of your real goal. For instance, if you want to generate enough money to retire early and travel the world. Your goal is not to generate money but to be able to travel the world. You could build a business that allows you to do this tomorrow, without needing to amass a fortune.

I want to build a business so I can be free to work whatever hours and from wherever I want. I want to be able to take a week off at the drop of a hat. I want to make my life simpler not more complex, meaning.

• No rushing to satisfy needy clients
• No investor emails to respond to instantly
• No managing large numbers of employees

This limits the business strategies available but also ensures that I'm building for my end goals.
