Easily secure the text that you need to send via email, chat
The next step after releasing the tool to a larger audience is to see if I can turn it into a profitable project. Right now, I'm toying with the idea of adding a paid "PRO" account that would give the user additional features like:
- Alerts when their links are opened
- Monitor links and review when and where they are opened
- Ability to invalidate any link you sent
- No need to set a password each time you want to save something sent to you.
We will see how that goes.
It's been over a year and a half since I launched SecureToSend and the tool recently hit the 500 messages secured milestone. That's roughly 1 message secured a day since launching. Which, I know, isn't too impressive, but to be fair, I've never promoted the tool outside of my small group of colleagues. So it's been in a sort-of private beta all this time.
As far as side projects go, SecureToSend was quick. It was built in a couple hours over a weekend and launched in early February 2017. I wish I had an interesting story to tell about the origin or build process but I don't. It was a simple idea and quick build to solve a need I had.
