SelfServiceApps
Offer your clients the service they would give themselves
Puf! Just got the domain SelfServiceApps.com (what do you think, any good?)? I’m setting up the website as we speak. All this while finishing the first couple of apps and blogposts. Yes, this is hard work, but is nothing compared to what’s next: finding customers.
This is the first time I’ll be going to the market with something that is already known by the target audience. So that saves some serious time on market research. The main challenge will be to keep the apps very simple while giving enough power and features to the customers to get them on board. If these apps are any good and they keep their promise, all I must do is sit, wait and enjoy the miracle of self-service. :-)
Just kidding, I’m a firm believer of great personal service. Self Service is just a way of freeing up time on your “happy path” so you can dedicate a killer personal service to the edge cases. I already have a great support team at one of my other businesses, so they might help a little during start-up. Maybe that’s too much cheating. We’ll see...
We’re digressing from the part on finding my first customers. Perhaps because I haven’t really given it much thought. Hmmm, that might be a bad sign, right?
First of all: I wish you the best 2020 with great health and may you surpass all your indiehacker goals.
For me, 2020 started with a disaster: the idea of starting yet another project. Yes, I KNOW, this is the absolute worst thing I could do. But this one has a twist. I'll be hacking it big time as I'm just creating a more mature version of some popular demos of another project.
Buildingblocks.io allowed me to create and maintain no-code systems at record speed and scale. But it is a poorly monetized and very technical open-source project. I could try to create a generic UI on top of it and try to sell that, but that would cost a fortune and delay any other progress by years.
So why not take the most successful demo’s and make bite-size apps out of these? I truly believe they can help many small businesses worldwide grow significantly and hopefully your indiehacker adventure as well. Try it out while its’s free.

Self-service is on the rise, and it’s obvious why. When clients are able to take over a bit of the workload, the business can focus on growing and making more money. This only works when the clients get a kick-ass custom

Congrats! The domain name is self explanatory and easy to remember. Just want to be sure by self service, you mean self-hosted?
Hi, wow, thanks for the feedback.
In this context “self-service” is about the clients of our customers being able to perform certain services themselves. You know tons of examples: create your own price quotation, get in-app training, a portal with invoices, registering yourself for a visit, ... stuff that seems so, so very obvious to us as indihackers, is actually widely underused by the vast majority of s(m)e’s that are client-oriented. Or it is an overall crappy experience. They realize it is becoming a live or die necessity for their business, but they can’t find the starting point.
