Once we had the idea and format it was a case of shortlisting some themes and topics to host a talk on.

Something that had come up in Maker Sprints was the #buildinpublic movement, through some connections we have been able to secure one of the leading experts on the topic for our first talk.

Kevon Cheung will be opening the show, helping us make history with our very first talk on the 9th April.

A few of the members of the Maker Sprints started to talk about running a series of talks, similar to talks by google but for founders /makers / creators. After some discussion on the format we have decided to give this a go.

The format we have landed on is: Expert speaker. 1 hour. Relaxed conversation on topic. Questions from participants and host.

We want these talks to be informal, engaging and educational.

After the success of the first Maker Sprint it was clear that there were many others feeling the same way.

The main reasons people joined were for accountability and meeting like minded people.

A common thread from talking to people building their side projects / indie hacking has been a feeling of not having people to talk to about projects, family and friends often don't understand the reasoning for working on these projects.

Maker sprints has been great at helping people connect, it makes us proud to know that through these connections we have helped people connect and grow.

@richardjlo wanted to try and recapture the community feeling of his university days.

Feeling like there wasn't a place were people could come together, check-in and support each-other in a structured way, he formed the idea of a maker sprint.

A maker sprint is a 2 week sprint, with a daily check-in and a retrospective.

There are spaces for people to interact and connect.

The first maker sprint was launched on Twitter, the reaction was good and a first cohort was filled quickly.
