Pomodoro timer with analytics

January 13, 2021 $2,000 MRR revenue and 100 reviews on App Store!

The growth has been slow as I haven't prioritized any marketing.

My focus lately is still on identifying issues and reducing user churn. Right now it's> 30% which is very high.

There are only ~750 installs per month from AppStore. Forest, for instance, has 400K downloads in December alone. So I had a lot of opportunity and leeway to capture that market.

But progress is progress! Never thought I could reach $2K MRR this soon.

I plan to collaborate with influencers on youtube with affiliate marketing this month. Let's see!

Hi Philip, thanks for sharing your journey. I see you signed up to Setapp a couple of months before this post. Would you mind sharing how much of the 2k came from there?

    All the best!

      I don't remember. It's been a long time!

Hi @philipyoungg, did you ever seek out YouTube influencers to promote Session?

I'm curious, how did you decide which were the right YouTube influencers to contact?

I'm working on a way for affiliate advertisers to forecast the results of affiliate relationships by viewing stats from YouTubers' prior affiliate promotions.

    Thanks.

November 4, 2020 Launched on Setapp

Session launched on Setapp! It starts when we are discovered from Product Hunt launch.

Despite US election (bad timing for launch), we got 1K installs combined for Mac and iOS version.

We also got a lot of feedback and some confusion that could be fixed on the next update.

Can't wait to see where it's going next!

August 29, 2020 30 Subscribers!

I still can't believe it. Mostly because I have doubts that people would pay for it. I mean, Pomodoro timer? $4 a month? Who would pay that considering other offers it for free or for $1-$2 one time purchase everywhere?

I did get a few comments from free potential customers that they find it amusing that a Pomodoro timer charge subscription compared to a one-time fee. It makes me feel down and feels that it's all just luck and users would churn anyway.

Well, it's been almost a month and I think there's a place for Session in the market. And I can't wait to learn from existing users and made it better each day!

Statistic:

  • 3 from Twitter beta testers
  • 26 from ProductHunt launch
  • 1 from IndieHackers

~30% annual, ~70% monthly.

August 18, 2020 Got my first paying customer (wo/ initial contact)

Not sure! I'm currently talking with him about how does he find Session, what he likes, dislikes, and what could be improved.

One thing I learned is how important purchase flow is. I noticed that he's an active user, but didn't register after trial.

So I emailed him, asking for feedback. Realized it happens because he's using an old version where the purchase flow has a bug.

I'm currently investigating and trying to fix it.

* I used pomodoro technique for over the past 5 years * the offerings on the market are solid, but missing one thing: a way for me to reflect back and analyze where my time went by.
