Website launched

It took us a year to complete the website. Looking back, it might have gone faster. Maybe we should have launched earlier. But the final result is such that if launching earlier would have meant an inferior peroduct to the current one, I don't know if I'd be as happy as I am now.

That said, this is still v1.0 of the vision I have in mind for Setup Scout. It's not as WEB2.0 as it could be. Some features require a lot of behind-the-curtain work. There's not a lot of automation going on.

But it gets the job done.

The main goal now is to get the word out, funnel as much targeted traffic through it, gather feedback, and see if the idea is worth developing to v2.0: a user-centric platform with the main features of a community website, like following, liking, saving, etc.

We'll see how that goes. Future updates to follow!

This is an awesome site! I'm always looking for ideas for cool desk setups. An interactive medium like this is definitely more engaging.

I echo the other comment that it would be nice if you could hover products with a tooltip for a quick view.

I could see this becoming a sort of niche profile site where desk setup enthusiasts post their own setups. Given that, I think you would benefit a lot by focusing on creating a great experience for people to upload their setups. The more setups you have, the more traffic and product listings you'll have. So you should make it extremely easy to add those.

Good work! Excited to see where this goes.

Thank you! A full fledged, user driven content website is the ultimate goal, for sure. Still tinkering with ideas how to start implementing the most important features, such as the setup upload module you mentioned. We have the vision for it, just not the know-how at the moment.

What part of the know-how are you missing? The technical implementation piece?

What is your tech stack for the site?

        1. 2

Right now it’s running on Wordpress, coded in PHP. WP is a great tool, although during development I did notice some boundaries it sets.

Good going @stnkvcs, product building is always a marathon and not a sprint.

This is really great, I spend so much time trawling through Instagram at setups and trying to work out what the monitor is, or the mouse mat etc.
    Quick bit of feedback...
I like your feature page for each setup but a nice thing would be a way to 'peak' at each product to see some of its core info before I have to launch the full popover/product feature view. Pull out the the name, manufacturer etc before I decide to drill down into the proper product view. Feels a bit like I am jumping in and out at the moment.
Also think I have a bug, in Safari the setup image loads super small. I have to drag it small to get the mobile view then back out to get full size.
    Good luck!!

It's so good to hear an actual testimony of a problem being solved — in such a small niche it's a rare occurrence. So thank you!
In regards to your suggestion, the tool-tip idea was actually the first for how to display all of the products, the pop-over came later. Nevertheless, it never occurred to me that both these features could co-exist. I'll definitely look into it.
And thanks for the bug report, will also have to check that out asap!

Fantastic job! We have created an incredible website , catering to individuals in need who are seeking interest-free loans. This platform is specifically designed to assist impoverished individuals by providing them with financial support without any interest charges.

Cool idea, so you're main source of income for this would be the affiliate links ?

    1. 1

Thanks. Thought so in the beginning, but now I'm not so sure. At the moment we're focusing on growing traffic and getting the word out. In any case, I think that would be our main 'energy source', which we could direct in multiple ways to monetize.

This is so freaking cool! Nice work.

Thank you! Glad you like it

This is such a cool concept! And the site looks great. One thing is I would maybe add very light shadows to the interactive circles. It wasn't so straight forward for me, just by looking at the site, that the white circles were interactive clickables.

That's just me though, again great work!!

Thanks for the input! Although, they do already have the light shadows. Maybe they’re not equaly visible on different screens, or they’re just TOO subtle... whatever the case, thanks for bringing it to my attention!

Love the idea. Good luck for what's coming next :)

      Glad you do! Thanks :)

Would be cool if I could sort out products by most used / popular. Congrats for launching btw.

Thanks! Yes, sorting is definitely a feature that's coming in the near future.
