November 8, 2020 Expansion goals - Share-A-Cart for Groceries

The primary goal of Share-A-Cart expansion has always been to cover more and more ecommerce sites. With COVID-19 still raging, I've set my eyes on the multitude of online grocers and I'm happy to report that I now cover 10 of the top online grocery sites with my new release: Share-A-Cart for Groceries. The initial batch of online grocers are Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods, FreshDirect, Kroger, Mercato, Safeway, ShopRite, Stop & Shop, Walmart Grocery, and Wegmans.

As usual, the addon is available on all major browsers and can be installed from https://share-a-cart.com

October 2, 2020 Share-A-Cart global expansion

I'm unveiling the next chapter of my product now. I've long held plans to expand to many different vendors and provide social shopping cart sharing to them all, ala Honey model. I'm finally proud to announce that the first and major stepping stone has been laid, released, and is in the wild. Presenting: Share-A-Cart for Everything. Instead of going vendor by vendor as I've started originally, I've crafted a scaffold that can handle them all and while there is still a fair amount of work involved to shoehorn every sites ecommerce system into behaving as it should, this was all worth it.

Its available on Edge, Chrome, and Firefox, as well as any other derivatives of Chromium or Firefox. You can install it from our landing here: https://share-a-cart.com or directly from the CWS store: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/share-a-cart-for-everythi/hcjohblbkdgcoikaedjndgbcgcfoojmj.

It covers more than a dozen online retailers at launch so here is the launch list:

  • Amazon and all of international Amazon stores
  • AliExpress
  • Banggood and all of international stores
  • BestBuy
  • buybuyBABY
  • DHGate
  • eBooks
  • Flipkart
  • Gearbest Global
  • Michaels
  • Newegg
  • Overstock
  • Quill
  • Target
  • Textbooks
  • Walmart
  • Wayfair
  • Zappos

Happy Sharing!

June 16, 2020 Delighting my users.

I do have more than 10,000 now and many of them are loud and demanding. All in all, this is a good problem to have.

I've had support for Amazon retail list sharing for a long time, ever since the initial release, however, with COVID and various lock downs, grocery shopping became a very hot topic: I've had a string of users plead with me to start supporting Whole Foods and Amazon Fresh grocery services along with everything else I already cover in the sharing extension.

I have successfully prototyped grocery shopping with support for Walmart Grocery and having spent a decent amount of time reverse engineering various retail APIs being used by these sites, I have finally added Whole Foods and Fresh in one go.

The release containing these changes went out Friday, approved by Saturday on all web stores, and today I have already seen a dozen of carts dedicated to the newly supported Whole Foods.

I'm not often proud of a single feature change in a product, but this one was both big and useful for my users, as well as me personally.

May 3, 2020 🔥 Share-A-Cart new landing

I've spent last several weeks working with an amazing designer. The ask was simple: take what we have now and make it better in every conceivable way -- friendlier for users, clearer to understand, and crisp + fresh to look at. After the dust settled, I'd like to report that our new landing and Share-A-Cart for Amazon are both looking incredible.

Best of all? I've met the designer right here on IndieHackers: super talented Taulant Sulko. You can find samples of his work and other info on his website: https://tautau.co/

March 30, 2020 Support for AliExpress

As I expand the share-a-cart.com support for various online retailers I've been asked for 2 specific retailers everyone loves: Walmart Grocery and AliExpress.

While I already supported Walmarts main retail website, more and more people, especially with COVID-19 outbreak began requesting that I add Walmart Grocery. If you haven't heard, Walmart Grocery is Walmarts effort to place orders online with curb-side pickup or local delivery. This part of their website is completely separate system from their main site and I have had put in effort to expand and cover it as well. So now, if you want to share a shopping list on Walmart Grocery, you may do so with Share-A-Cart.

The other big request was for AliExpress. I have tested the waters with Ali for a while, but over the weekend I have released full site integration and extension support for this giant online retailer. I think it looks rather nice, here is a simple list with items from https://share-a-cart.com/get.html?cartid=SFX5I

Stay safe.

May 10, 2016 The origin

Having divorced earlier in 2016, and bearing the monetary support for my kids, I ran into an interesting issue while co-shopping for clothes and toys for my kids. You see, my ex-wife, wanted me to purchase some shoes that she found on Amazon for the kiddos and she has placed them into her cart.

A few days later, she added some clothes, books, and school supplies as well, and now she had a full cart of items for me to buy. But, it was in her Amazon cart and I wasn't ready to hand over my credit card to her. A brief moment of discovery ensued and to my complete surprise, I have not found a way to transfer what she had to me, or otherwise help me with items she selected -- Amazon really has only one way to do this right now through wish lists and to say that its as annoying as it sounds is not nearly descriptive enough to explain the pain of this process.

Seeing an interesting gap, I've sat down and created the first version of what was to become Share-A-Cart product: a browser extension that allows one user to pack their cart with items and then, with a single click, generate a code for the contents of the cart that then could be passed to another user to be loaded into their Amazon shopping cart.
