Sheet API
Turn Google Sheets into APIs with a few clicks
It has been some months and I haven't had the time I thought I would have to work on this project. But I believe this is about to change in the upcoming months.
Some of the projects that I've been working on that are publicly available are:
- Autoeditor: https://autoeditor.video/ (this will soon be launched here on Indie Hackers too!)
- Adding some new Intros to Kassel Labs: https://kassellabs.io/
- Screenshotty: https://screenshotty.link/
These already have a more established user base and are yielding more results.
As for Sheet API, we're gathering some users in our free plan organically and managed to have some using Sheet API on a daily basis. None of these is converted, yet...
I myself make half a million Sheet API requests on a monthly basis (this is indeed eating your own dog food)
By the end of July I believe most of the work from these projects that I've mentioned will be over, and I will be able to give Sheet API more attention.
Yesterday we finally managed to get Google's Verification for sentitive scopes. This is a small but important step in this product because it enables us to log users in without a huge warning about not being a verified Google App.
This is also a good step in terms of UX, because it allows users to add sheets without having to share them with contact@sheetapi.rest or making it public.
The whole process took us 3-4 weeks from the verification submission to approval.
After you submit your verification you will receive an email from Google that you have to reply to start the process.
Some things I've learned that will get you on the fast track to get Google 's verification are:
- Verify your domain at Google Search Console, this will be a requirement in the first steps of the verification: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/9008080?hl=en
- Make sure to include in your privacy policy that you comply with their limited use policy: https://developers.google.com/terms/api-services-user-data-policy#additional_requirements_for_specific_api_scopes
- Make sure to make that your Sign-In button complies with their branding guide: https://about.google/brand-resource-center/guidance/apis/

Thanks for the tips, I'm currently also in the process of verifying Google Tasks API for my Tesla Notes app. It's a bit of a pain, because it doesn't exactly tell you what you are missing. Did you follow any guides on what you need to have/include?

I did not follow any particular guides, on what to include. But I've checked what other people were going through and found out you have to be patient, in some cases it took me 7-8 days to receive a reply from them.
The part of them being vague about what you are missing is indeed a pain. I would recommend showing as much as possible, even going into technical details when explaining.
Make sure to display the login process and the scopes you'll need, even if it sounds redundant.
In some of my videos showing the application running in development mode was needed to clarify some things.

I have officially launched Sheet API, it tooks some weeks to get everything set up, tested and running, but the first version of Sheet API is finally out.
This is not my first time venturing into this kind of business, so I believe we can have some users within some time and effort in promoting it.
I plan to share every detail of the execution of this project, from the programming and scalability challenges to issues I'm running into getting this app approved by Google.
Please follow this page if you wish to stay on top of whats going on.
I'll also share it with an email newsletter than can be accessed through this form: https://sheetapi.rest/insider-newsletter
PS: This form was built using Sheet API.

Sheet Integration is something everybody always wants, it is by far the most stakeholder-friendly way to share some data between people. Sheet API removes the hassle you have to go through when integrating with Sheets

Sounds like you're juggling a lot! It's great to see you building momentum with Autoeditor, Kassel Labs, and Screenshotty. Focusing on those with existing traction seems wise. Good luck with the July push!
Thanks! Juggling through a lot of projects is indeed the most challenging part at the moment.
