This product didn't take off usage wise and I do not have the time to dedicate to it further since I'm working on https://veems.tv, https://sheet2api.com and running my other software business.

So in the bin it goes. On the plus side development of this product involved some infrastructure work which can be reused again.

As above, didn't do any special prep for this as last time I did I got about 2 upvotes :)

Just used the product demo video I created for the website homepage along with some screenshots.

Didn't get any feedback yet but after this, I'll do some SEO keyword research using ahrefs and update/add to the website content accordingly.

After just two days of writing code, the initial version of https://sheet2doc.com is now live.

In short, it speeds up the creation of similar Word Document by using the data from a Spreadsheet to populate the Word Documents.

There are a few extra features planned but those can wait until some feedback is received from actual users.

p.s. the reason I was able to get this done so quickly was I spent time on other projects coding a base solid SaaS (account management, payments, usage tracking) codebase (In Python). So that is now easily reusable on future projects.

I wonder, what are the use cases for transforming spreadsheet to document?

      There are many use cases:

      • Creating invoices.
      • Quotations.
      • Branded documents.
        ... etc.

But why would you limit the choice to Word Documents? I personally haven't used MS Office for years now, and only use PDFs or Google Docs . Wouldn't it be more useful to transform the sheet into a generic format that you can then export to PDF, DOC, Google Docs or whatever you want?

I think it would be easy for @richardindie to integrate different formats later on. I don't use MS Office either but I don't think we are the target audience ;)

That's true, the easiest way to know that I'm not in the target audience is that I didn't understand what problem this was solving and why, as I never actually had that problem.

    Way to go 👍

    Congrats, that's some fast coding!

After first checking out the landing page, my first thought: "Why would I want to convert a sheet to a doc? Oh, to generate bulk documents. But why would I export it to a .doc or use Word at all, why not PDF or other format?"

I am not sure how well you know your target audience, but I do beleive that the tool will be a lot more valuable if you could:

    1. Export to PDF (if invoices are the goal, most invoices are sent as PDFs, not Word documents)
    2. Be able to copy-paste the template instead of uploading a .doc file (or maybe use a Google Docs document for the template)
    3. Be able to use Google Sheets link
