Beautiful tracker apps for Google Sheets

April 11, 2026 I built 11 Google Sheets tracker apps – each one is a single file with no dependencies

I've been building Google Sheets tracker apps for the past few months. It started with a book tracker – I wanted something that looked good and worked without installing anything. The architecture turned out to be reusable enough that one tracker became eleven.

Each one is a standalone Google Apps Script file (3,000–6,000 lines) that generates an entire app inside a spreadsheet – dashboard with stats, an insights page with 8+ charts, automated progress tracking, all of it. No npm, no build tools, no external APIs. Just a single .gs file that builds everything from scratch.

The lineup covers books, movies, games, board games, comics, albums, concerts, courses, craft projects, art projects and drink tastings – and I'm already planning out a few more. I called the line SheetFlux and from there it was ReadFlux, WatchFlux, PlayFlux, BoardFlux, ComicFlux, ListenFlux, ConcertFlux, CourseFlux, CraftFlux, SketchFlux and TasteFlux – yeah, I liked the naming pattern.

What each tracker includes:

- A Library sheet where you log items – progress bars update automatically, dates fill in and it tells you if you're on track to hit your yearly goals

- A Dashboard that recalculates on its own with KPI cards and charts

- An Insights page with 8+ filterable charts (by year, by status, breakdowns by genre/category)

- A Settings page where you set goals and customize all dropdown lists

- An Instructions sheet so the user doesn't need to read anything external

Everything is code-generated – conditional formatting, data validation, named ranges, formulas. The buyer gets a Google Sheet. They open it, the script runs once to build everything, then it just works.

Some technical details if you're curious:

All 11 share a design system – consistent typography scale, card styles with shadows, color themes, column layouts. I wrote a cross-product lint script with 444+ automated checks to keep everything in sync. The shipped product is a minified runtime (~60 lines) that handles onOpen/onEdit triggers and automations.

The business side:

I sell them on Gumroad individually and in themed bundles. There's also a free version of the book tracker (ReadFlux Lite) – just the Library sheet, no dashboard or charts – if you want to see how it works.

I built a small marketing site with blog posts for each product. SEO is the long game – site's only been up for two weeks. Still figuring out the distribution side. Would love to hear what's worked for others launching digital products.

About

I wanted a good-looking tracker for the books I read – something in Google Sheets that actually felt like an app, not a blank grid. I built one and the architecture was reusable enough that one became eleven.
