Shellwatch

Today I am launching the basic version of the landing page for Shellwatch. Have been procarstinating for a long time so I thought lets just launch the website first and keep updating the website. The idea is to launch something so that I will be more motivated to finish the site fully.

It took only one day to come up with the MVP. The initial idea was whenever there is a login or login failure to a system send an alert to Slack and Telegram so our team is aware of the who is logged in to which system. Making this a fully functional user friendly product was consuming most of the development.

I am a huge fan real-time applications. I always wanted to create one from scratch. But I was looking for problems that can fit this category. So on a day prior to this day I created a server, left it over a night and next day I analyzed the logs and found that there were thousands of bots trying to access the server and failed. Initially the idea is to capture these logs real-time and alert me and my team if there anyone gained access without our permission. Later, I expanded this tool and planned to make into a useful tool for others as well.
