April 19, 2019 Released version 2.0

In the summer of 2019, Apple removed from the App Store "simulated gambling" apps developed by individual app developers - which included Shnarps.

I hadn't thought about Shnarps in years, but realized it was still getting a decent number of daily active users.

I then created an LLC for distributing my iOS apps through - no longer an individual app developer. Then I went about rebuilding Shnarps from the ground up - fresh designs, in-app advertising, etc.

After a month or so of work, I released version 2.0 to the App Store.

April 4, 2016 Launched in the App Store

The purpose of this project was for me to learn iOS development. I spent countless hours of work on nights and weekends - watching the Stanford CS class videos on iOS development and learning through experimentation.

The approach was:

  1. "Wouldn't it be cool if the card flipped over and then moved to the table?"
  2. Google, Stack Overflow, Apple Docs, etc.
  3. Build, break, debug, it works!
  4. Repeat

When it was officially released in the App Store the objective was accomplished.

About

In a previous life, I played professional hockey in the minor leagues. On long bus rides (sometimes 10+ hours) we would play this niche card game for hours on end. It was the perfect project for learning iOS development.
