Shopao
Your 24/7 AI Sales Agent.
I'm building Shopao, an AI customer support agent for Mercado Libre sellers in Latin America.
Most AI bots answer product questions by guessing. Shopao doesn't. It reads real listing data directly from Mercado Libre's API—stock, shipping, pricing, warranties, and product details—and only answers with verified information.
My thesis: in e-commerce, trust matters more than sounding human. A wrong answer can cost a seller their reputation and future sales.
I'm currently validating demand with Mercado Libre sellers and would love feedback from founders building in AI, e-commerce, or Latin America.
Has anyone here built for marketplace sellers before?
About
Shopao helps Mercado Libre sellers convert more buyers by answering questions instantly with real listing data. It provides accurate, verified responses and escalates when information is unavailable instead of guessing.

Your thesis is right and it is your whole moat: "trust matters more than sounding human," and you back it by reading Mercado Libre's real API instead of guessing. Keep that. But notice the gap between this post and your own site. Here you call Shopao an "AI customer support agent." On your site the sharpest line is "las respuestas informan, Shopao vende." Those are two different products.
The site is the stronger one, and your thesis is exactly why. A seller does not pay for accurate answers, that is table stakes, they pay for more sales. But a bot that guesses cannot be trusted to upsell, because one wrong "yes, it is compatible" costs the sale and the reputation. Shopao reads real data, so it is the one agent that can sell without lying. That is the position: the Mercado Libre agent that sells, because it never guesses. Accuracy is not the pitch, it is the permission slip.
So lead with "vende," and use the trust thesis as the proof beneath it, not as the headline. To your actual question: yes, marketplace sellers are a real wedge, and the ones who convert first will be the higher-volume sellers who feel every lost sale. What did the sellers you are validating with ask for first, fewer wrong answers, or more sales?
Interesting thesis.
The thing I'd be careful with is that "verified answers" explains why Shopao works, but not necessarily why a seller decides they need it now.
Those are often different decisions.
I'd be cautious about treating this as a product-trust problem before you're sure you've identified the moment where the cost of doing nothing becomes unacceptable.
I wouldn't make that call casually in a thread.
