Shoutout App
Peer Recogntion captured in Pull Requests for Developers
It took 3 months, but I'm finally done building the minimum viable product for Shoutout App. I worked mostly weekends and I coded the whole thing in Node.js since that's that I'm the most comfortable with. It was interesting to learn the Github events API and App marketplace
I'm excited to start talking to customers and see what they think about the product so far!
I was trying to think of problems to solve and my brother who is a software engineer told me two related problems
- Peer recognition is what motivates developers but there's no easy way to give and record acknowledgements
- As a developer I would like to make it easy to manage my my career and capture code contributions that I believe made an impact

Its hard to give and then track peer recognition for developers especially when everyone is remote. Also, as a developer I would like to record my own noteworthy pull requests for my own performance tracking
