Side Quest Jobs

It's tax season, which means it's time for me to rant about how much I hate to do all the little things that are required to run a full corporation (at least in Canada).

I've got to gather all my receipts and expenses for the last year, input them, categorize them, submit them all to my accountant, update my corporate minutebook, speak to lawyers, accountants, and the rest.

I find myself wishing there were an automated tool to do all of this for me - something for just the single-person businesses. I don't have time to focus on anything but development.

Does anyone else have this problem? I wanna know where the pain is for all of you.

Was fortunate enough today to get our first paying customer, which is exciting for me as it's technically the first business dollar I've made on the internet.

I'm hopeful they find a candidate to fill their position. We'll continue to drive traffic to the site, and hopefully acquire a few more customers.

We got our first 100 people signed up for our daily mailing list of par time, contract, and freelance job postings.

We're in the process of changing the way email notifications work, so that people can better get information that's specific to them.

We're also expanding to start posting positions on Social Media, like Twitter.

We launched on Hacker News with great success! Our ShowHN post went to the front page and there was a lively discussion about the changing dynamics of work-week expectations.

After about a week of coding, I've finished the MVP for Side Quest Jobs. It's an adaptation of a few job sites I've built in the past but have never launched, but I'm committing myself to launching it this time.

The site uses a pretty simple django stack, with basic HTML, CSS, and JQuery. No need to make things complicated yet.
