Sidequest for Slack

Starting today, we are featured on the front page of the Slack App Directory! It still feels a bit intimidating to be sitting there, between Zoom and Google Drive, but still we are incredibly proud.

In a time when many tech giants don’t exactly make headlines with great developer relations, it has really been a great four months working with Slack so far. Customer support, dev support, marketing, PR – no matter who we talked to, everybody was incredibly helpful and responsive, although we always came through the front door with nothing but our little work-in-progress app idea.

This is a big day: we are releasing version 1.0 of Sidequest, removing our beta label after four months of development. We are also revealing our subscription scheme, which we hope will allow workspaces of any size to use Sidequest to power their internal support processes.

Starting today, marketing will become an even more important part of our daily work, while we still have many items on our product roadmap, many of them already in testing.

Today, we got approved to the Slack App Directory! It's a huge milestone for us, as it comes with Slack's official stamp of approval for our app and lists us in the most important market place for Slack Apps.

Overall, the Slack team has been nothing short of amazing when it comes to both technical and marketing support, and we're happy to be developing for a platform that takes so much care of its community.

After onboarding our first beta testers, we couldn't wait any longer to show our baby to the world, so we took it to Show HN. And what can we say: the post went to the roof! Within hours, we made the front page and received a lot of helpful feedback via various channels.

On this day, Sidequest was installed to 100 new workspaces, many of them still using our tool to power their internal helpdesks today.

We're now confident enough in Sidequest to share it with third-party testers outside of our own workspace, who will use it in their production settings. This comes with a lot of responsibility, as we will be handling both confidential and time-sensitive information, but after using Sidequest ourselves for two months without any major hick ups, we feel like we're ready!

Today, we're rolling out Sidequest in our internal Slack workspace. We have been using a commercial third-party tool for running our internal helpdesks for way too long, and were never really happy with its feature set and UX.

Now, we're kicking it out and replacing it by our own product, and that feels awesome!
