Sima
Manage friends & family loans without the hassle
We wrote code on the weekends and after work for 6 months since getting rejected from YC. Today, we have a real product with real users and real revenue. We started a closed beta sometime in November, and opened it as a public beta a couple weeks ago.
The money stuff works, so now we're slowly building in features to make the social experience of loan management smoother.
We built our first version of Sima as a relayer in the Dharma protocol. At the time it was just a hobby side project. Building was really slow-going because Dapp development patterns were not generally very mature. We built a janky version that required a mobile dapp browser and started doing YC's startup school program.
At the end of startup school we got an invitation to interview for the main program. We didn't expect our side project to be taken very seriously, but when YC expressed interest we started thinking about what the project could be if we didn't limit our user-base to only those people who know how to interact with a Dapp.
We were not accepted into YC, but shortly before we went to the interview we decided to scrap the Ethereum dapp and build Sima as a traditional fintech project that interfaces with the banking system. Now we have a prototype that lets people connect their bank accounts and support others in their community seamlessly!
