SimpleGoals
Easy-to-use achievements for your users
A month ago, I launched SimpleGoals β a tool that allows you to create easy-to-use achievements for your users. Even though I got a lot of positive feedback about it, the number of actual users was extremely low.
Well, it wasn't a surprise for me, because the reason is quite simple β people just don't know what to do with the tool. It had a large number of applications but didn't give you a cause or a way how to use it.
So today, I'm launching a first real-world application of SimpleGoals β growing your email list in a new, not annoying for your users, way:
https://simplegoals.co/solutions/grow-email-list
I'm just validating an idea. Still, there is a market of popups collecting emails, and SimpleGoals allows you to do the same with more entertaining(and for sure less annoying) experience for your users.
If you read about startups and entrepreneurs, you often see that you need to be ready to pivot and consider it as a good thing. So let's see will it be good for me or not π . I'll post updates on my twitter(https://twitter.com/slava_dev) and more general results here.
To be honest, I'm not sure if it can be called a pivot, or there is a special term for changes like that, so I'll be more than happy to read your thought about it π
Wow, this is quite... terrifying β sending an email to a bunch of people I don't personally know.
Even if there are less than 50 of them.
Even if they agreed to it (with double opt-in sign up π)
But eventually, it is pleasantly terrifying, because I'm sending good news β now you can easily customize colors and fonts while using simplegoals.co
You can take a look at email here: https://mailchi.mp/f43c9de5bf8b/customize-simplegoals-to-fit-your-brand

I remember this as well, I just launched a newsletter on responsible investment (https://nossa.capital/) - about 6 weeks in and each week as the subscribers grow more and more pressure to make sure I am sending quality content!

I'll never forget first e-mail I sent out to a group of subscribers over ~100 people. You're spot on - terrifyingly pleasant to be able to reach out to that many people with a click of the button.

Finally happy to share a project Iβve been working on lately!π₯³
SimpleGoals allows you to quickly and easily create achievements your users can accomplish.
It consists of open-sourced JavaScript library https://github.com/simplegoals/simplegoals and a Rails backend that helps users to sync their achievements across sessions and devices.

This is awesome! Looks super fluid and doesn't detract from the main flow at all, nice work!
I'm working on a workout tracking app (https://www.mylo.fit) and this is great. Do you think it's smth that could be made to create new user onboarding experiences. Like when you first open an app and a tutorial teaches you how it works.

By the way, it should be "How does it work?" rather than "How it works?".

Wow this is a really good idea!
One question - Where did you get the nice graphics on your website from?-

That's a really cool idea and a great way to add gamification to a site. What's the reasoning behind open sourcing the code?
-
2
Thanks.
Open-sourcing gives +1 to karma π Plus it opens some new ways to promote the product.
Backend part β where you can collect achievements(and emails for example in the future) in the cloud β is not open-sourced and this is the point where I want to monetize it.

@korolvs Love the product. It's very neat and simple. Doesn't disturb the user experience of the website.
Any plans to do it for Android and ios apps?
-

Thanks!
Yes, it's definitely in the plans, but improving web experience has more priority now.
There is already an option to use API on mobile to save and sync achievements, but no UI yet.
