SiteFast
Turn GoogleSheets into websites within minutes.
After almost 8 months of hard working, we finally completed the v2 of SiteFast. In the new version, we revamped the whole application.
SiteFast now does not require any special format of Google Sheets. It reads directly from your existing Google Sheets, you no longer need to compromise your Google Sheet's data structure.
We shipped a drag-n-drop page editor, now your data is completed separated from your design. The page editor allows you to create any website to match your own branding.
We finally had some technical breakthroughs for SiteFast v2. It is not easy to build a website builder, not to mention on top of fetching data from Google sheets.
Thanks to the open-source community, we were able to find good libraries which make this all possible.

We have been working on the v2 of SiteFast, which comes with a page builder.
It will allow our users to create custom sites. Own design, own dataset.
This project is a big one. But we believe that, with this feature. More users will be able to create better sites.
Here is a sneak peek of the progress.

We have been talking to our customers and all the feedback
lead to a feature of building a custom site.
Most of the customers love the idea of search and filters in our
existing templates, however almost everyone has a different set of data and
they want to change the layout of the site a bit.
We are going to build a new feature, which is a big one, to allow
users to build a custom site using SiteFast, they can define the GoogleSheets column to fetch the data and build own site layouts and output the data.
We are going to call this SiteFast 2.0.

This month(Nov), we published three sites on SiteFast as a marketing effort.
And they are Online Coding Bootcamps, Awesome Web Scraper and Remote Job Board.
They did not generate any buzz or users as I expected. One of the reasons might be that people are interested in the content the sites provide, but they did not notice the link to SiteFast on the footer.

The URL itself says "affiliate". So I navigate to your sitefast page, and then I'm off the site looking someone else's powered by clause.
No one's going to see SiteFast on a page like that.
You'd be better off doing a bunch of Fiverr contracts using your own platform.
I can't search with the enter button on my keyboard either.
This week we published https://sitefast.live/site/7/AFFILIATE as part of the marketing campaign. This listing site provides a list of websites to get free stock photos, it is super useful for getting free stock photos for design purposes.
This week, we gained 2 paying customers, who requested features to build a custom template. We are hearing more and more such requests from paid/non-paid customers, hence we plan to build this feature.
The new feature will enable customers to import their existing Google Sheets and define which fields will be used for their site.

This week, we launched CI/CD tools(https://sitefast.live/site/6/AFFILIATE) using SiteFast.
This is the first time that SiteFast has received no sign-ups. I think it is the removal of free plans and lack of marketing activities. Until now we have published 3 sites powered by SiteFast. And we will do a conclusion when it reaches 4.

This week, we launched Podcasts for Developers(https://sitefast.live/site/5/AFFILIATE) using SiteFast.
Since the removal of the free plan, sign-ups dropped like hell as expected, we gain one customer this week(1 dollar plan).
He plans to use it as a personal tool to help with his daily operations. which is a good insight for us, It seems like the filter/search made the tool valuable for him.

This week, we launched a new website using SiteFast: Best Programming Channels.
To address the product-market fit problem, I decided to remove the free plan and added a 1 dollar plan. This is to make sure people who signed up are at least serious about it.
The experience of free users is that majority of them are not serious about this product, probably just checking out, since there was a free plan.

SiteFast is a scratching my own itch type of product. I ran into the repetitive task of building similar directory sites. These directory sites follow a similar structure, so I built SiteFast to save my time.
