February 25, 2025 Introducing SixFocus: A Minimalist Productivity System

Why do most to-do list apps fail to improve productivity?

The problem is simple: too much complexity. Long, unstructured to-do lists lead to decision fatigue and make it harder to focus on what truly matters.

That’s why I created SixFocus—a minimalist task management app built around the Rule of Six.

🎯 The Theory Behind SixFocus

SixFocus is based on a simple but powerful principle: Limiting your daily tasks to six leads to better focus, execution, and mental clarity. This idea is inspired by the Ivy Lee Method, a time-tested productivity technique used by some of the most successful business leaders.

🔹 Less is more – A cluttered task list leads to procrastination. Six tasks provide clarity and focus.

🔹 Momentum over perfection – Completing six meaningful tasks every day leads to long-term success.

🔹 Designed for simplicity – No unnecessary features. Just six tasks per day, beautifully organized.

💡 Built-in 60,000 Quotes for Daily Inspiration

One unique feature of SixFocus is its massive collection of 60,000 built-in quotes. Instead of showing just one motivational quote per day, users can freely browse and discover inspiring quotes whenever they need a boost.

Feeling unmotivated? Swipe through SixFocus’s quote collection and get instant inspiration.

Here’s an example:

> "You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great." – Zig Ziglar

Additionally, SixFocus includes a Custom Quotes feature, allowing users to save and organize their own favorite quotes. Whether it’s personal wisdom, productivity hacks, or life lessons, you can keep all your inspiration in one place.

📲 What’s Next?

I’m actively developing SixFocus and refining its features. I'd love to hear your thoughts! How do you manage your daily tasks? Would limiting them to six improve your workflow?

Let’s discuss in the comments! 🚀

Hey! I recently started to apply similar technique just using Things 3. Just because I own this app for a long time, but I want to have something with basically two things: my current focuses and backlog. That basically it. 😃

But maybe in my case I don’t want to limit myself to specific number, but rather have a number of focus items and once one is done - next could appear from backlog.

    Not sure if it helps

About

I created SixFocus because I struggled with overwhelming to-do lists that were cluttered and unfocused. SixFocus exists to help people stay productive by focusing on just six essential tasks per day.
