January 23, 2021 Officially launched the app!

It has been an awesome adventure. After making lots of small modifications based on the beta feedback, testing testing and testing day and night, we finally pushed the button not just in the app stores (to upload a new initial version), but also in numerous locations where we wanted to post the information about our launch.

Even if we worked thousands of hours in the last 7 months on the mobile app, we all know, the hardest part is still ahead of us: spreading the word about the app, getting tons of downloads, with recurring and paying users. Go Skeebdo!

January 21, 2021 Won an award in the accelerator program

After 3 months of working closely with startups and people working in the startup ecosystem, our most exciting adventure to date came to an end.

On the last day, there was a show where every startup pitched their product to the jury and had to answer questions in mere seconds.

We won the "Most Developed Startup" award which meant a lot for us, since it was based on a voting by all of our peers and mentors. We met amazing people from all around the world as well as people working in high positions. Our journey continues and our motivation is stronger than ever!

Congratulations on the award. Recognition from an accelerator can be a strong signal that the team is making meaningful progress.

The more interesting part is what comes next: turning that recognition into customer traction, stronger execution, and sustainable growth.

    Wishing the team continued success.

January 12, 2021 Reached first organic paying customer

It did not take too long for one of our users to subscribe to the pro version (~12 hours). The first paying customer is always a big milestone in the life of a startup because if someone enjoys your product so much that they are willing to pay for it, then presumably others will too. Hooray!

January 11, 2021 Soft-launch in the app stores

In order to get a bit of "friendly" traction before we officially launched the app, we decided to ask our friends and families to help kick-start the app. As such, on this day, we added it to the different app stores! And both Google and Apple accepted our app in a few hours.

It was humbling to see how many of friends and family members then flocked to the app stores to help in rating it, writing reviews, etc.

December 14, 2020 Launched the beta version of the app

It happened! After months of planning, designing, developing and testing, we finally uploaded the app to the app stores! We collected around 40 people in advance that signed up for the beta test, which meant real people could start using our product and telling their feedback about it.

There were bugs, of course, but we mainly focused on checking if everything was in its place, if they knew what the app does and of course if they would enjoy using the app in the long-term. The information we received was tremendously useful so we decided to tweak the app for a couple of weeks until we were comfortable with publishing it to anyone.

December 5, 2020 Hired our first employee

Though we knew how to develop Android apps, our knowledge was outdated and creating iOS apps would've been a completely new area for us. So we decided to look for a developer, who can develop on a platform/in a framework that creates the Android and the iOS version at the same time.

Our fantastic developer has been working with us for a while by this point, and completely for free, out of pure enthusiasm towards our concept and vision. If that does not show the attractiveness of our vision, nothing does. By the end of November, our app was almost finished, and the developer was spending more and more of his free time on our mobile app. So we decided to make him part of the company and offered him a package.

October 2020 Accepted to a prominent accelerator program

We decided to apply to Hungary's most prominent startup accelerator program. We wanted to become part of a startup ecosystem to see how other startups develop and grow their products and of course to build relationships.

We really enjoyed the selection process that already included useful workshops, keynotes, community-building exercises and fantastic, driven people. When we finally made it to the program, we were extremely happy but we also knew that the hard work was just starting.

June 2020 Started working on the mobile app

Based on the tremendous feedback we received from our web app users, we decided to develop our English learning product on Android and iOS.

This meant a complete redesign of the flow. Our main goal was to see the app from the users' point of view so we created mockups and performed several user interviews.

April 20, 2020 Launched our MVP web app

After numerous iterations, testing and validating user flows, we finally were ready to put out to the wider market our commercial MVP web app. It was the output of months of hard work.

While we were happy with the results upon launch and had our first organic paying subscribers, - validating the concept -, we entered a period of months where we just listened to our learners and the data.
