Slowcial
Neighborhood bulletin board that helps you make new friends.

Having lived in a few cities across the US, it has been a recurring struggle to find people within grabbing-coffee-distance who want to also get nerdy about startups, tech podcasts, show & tell for prototypes being built in free time, and general hangouts to feel less lonely while we moonlight on passion projects / work from home.

I'm experimenting with Slowcial to scratch my own itch - instead of gambling time on Meetups / Lunchclubs / Eventbrite networking events / dating apps, can an online space exist which entices people in tech to visit throughout the week for hyperlocal technical content, while also doing the heavy-lifting of matchmaking its members for delightful warm introductions and mutually-interesting conversation starters?
(And since I'm personally frustrated by infinity feed designs, this felt like a great opportunity to try out some 3D gameplay mechanics).
Can't seem to get this 3D neighborhood bulletin board design out of my mind, so decided to take a small sabbatical from work & life to roadtrip towards San Francisco and attempt this startup adventure full-time.
I've seen first hand how much indiehackers yearn for technical communities in non-major-metropolitan cities (Albany, Detroit, Ft Lauderdale) - now wonder if this void extends even to a tech mecca like San Francisco. Let's find out!
