Smart Paste

Hey everyone, it's been a few months since our last update but we've been slowly growing our user base and working hard to brainstorm how we can hit more user growth and still get our first paying customer!

Since our launch in February, we're proud to say that we currently have 163 weekly active users using our extension and over 100 daily active users!

We've been building this part time so it's been a delicate practice of balancing our day jobs with working hard on this but I'm still looking for the day we hit ramen profitability :)) 🍜

With so many options of how to hit a higher growth rate we don't know what to do but ultimately we're still focusing on delivering the best product experience when it comes to data entry between different web apps and documents since we want to be the "glue" between the data (why we named it smart paste :P) !!

Following the months after our first released chrome extension, we launched our first complete product!

For this release we focused on three main features:

• Extracting websites/document fields
• Automatically filling forms
• Extracting table data

By focusing on these three features we can build a multitude of combinations that require repetitive data entry tasks, revolving around tabular data. Mixed with our ability to do these things with PDFs, we can not only build just for the web but with documents that people have locally!

Some of the example workflows we thought of that would apply:

• Extracting LinkedIn profile fields to a table
• Extracting Airbnb rental information to a table
• Use Salesforce common fields to fill in forms
• Filling in contact info forms from Salesforce common fields
• Filling in PDF forms using Salesforce table

These are just a few workflows we thought of but we wanted to just release to see who uses this the most.

Our goal for this was to find users to test our first version of our product and try to identify major work flows that people would use this for. I think we still have a long way to go but our launch definitely seemed to have helped at least with some traction.

Our original idea started based on one single problem; it's really hard to get table data from PDF files. After talking to some family and friends, they all said copying tables from PDFs to excel is annoying.

Some solutions exist but require some overhead and don't do it that well. We hacked up something in a few weeks and it seemed to work semi-decently.

This version was very barebones and had some kinks but is good enough that it would still help people with this specific issue. At the end of the day, our end goal was to save time when doing annoyingly simple but tedious tasks
