Coop door opener with phone notifications
After finishing the software, the design will be analyzed for FCC SDoC and then I can build the first actual product.
After a year and a half exploring hardware, getting it wrong, and changing the design about 30 times, I have finally settled on a Raspberry Pi-centered design. Last night I finished the hardware prototype and I expect to finish the software prototype today.
We had to bug out from hurricane Matthew, taking with us my mother-in-law who keeps the family’s chickens. We were enjoying ourselves at a campground and I thought it would be nice if we could stay longer. But she had to return to let the chickens out.
I thought, I should get her a coop door opener. But Googling around, nothing looked good. Since I’m in IT I thought well I would at least have monitoring if there are issues. I should make one for her.
And then I thought, I should sell it as well.
After doing market research I realized there is potential for this niche product t have a true market fit. So here we go!
