10,000+ Downloads Crossed
by Rajat VaghaniI just got to know Snap Search ( https://snapsearch.online ) crossed 10,000 downloads on 4th January. I was completely unaware of this milestone as Google has stopped showing it as a benchmark.
It feels nice... But, I'm not sure how good it is though. It took approximately 5.5 months to reach this. Seems like a long time to get here, or is it fine? What do you think? 🤔

10,000 Downloads is an awesome accomplishment, no matter the time it took to get there. Most apps will never make it that far. Congrats!

Oh man. This isn't the first time I've been told so.
Personally, I wouldn't want it on Snap Search, I swear. That's why its hidden under parental controls, and even then blocked only for paid users. But it is a very popular option, and a very popular website. And to be fair, Snap Search should cater to all users. Even those wanting to watch porn videos should have an easy way, and a secure way without worrying about getting tracked.
I got a message from a user that said he used to get weird advertisements about dating and 'mens health products', but that's stopped now. Just an example.
But at the same time, what would you suggest? Is there any other way I can strike a balance?

screw balance, uphold the right thing. Let's face it, porn destroy relationship. Would you want your kid to commit adultery? Since the internet is public as a creator we should play our role to make this world a better place. Imagine google would like to have a tab call 'porn' and rank the best daily porn video, and it will severely affect humanity.

This is really cool!
Just curious... How do you feel about analytics? I am conflicted because on one hand it's helping make the product better but on the other hand it's collecting data.-

That's a very important and solid point there. I too keep arguing with myself about it. But the benefits it provides to improve the product is so strong. I kind of convince myself by reminding myself that there data analytics provides is anonymous as well :
- I do not have any user info, or any knowledge about what's being searched.
- There is no user profile creation/sign up or login required.
- Absolutely no permissions asked.
No analytics platform can take advantage here and collect unnecessary data that isn't required, the app does't provide or have enough permissions for them to do so either.

Well, it was majorly a combination of:
- ASO ( mostly responsible )
- Ads ( started since 2 months @ $30/Month )
- Posts in blogs, forums, slack groups and communities such as these, trying to spread awareness.

Google Ads. Somehow I found the others very expensive (Twitter, Snapchat etc), and Facebook didn't work out that well for me (yet).
