Snippet Safe

I've been working on and using snippet safe myself over the last few months, gradually adding functionality to it that I feel has been useful to its development as a product. This includes the ability to download your code as a raw file, image or share it to twitter.

I'm hoping that by opening it up to more users I will be able to guage whether others are likely to find thi product useful. It is my plan to then work with those that are interested to scope out new features or improve on those that currently exist.

I'm a programmer by trade and use Twitter a lot to keep up to date with what's going on in the development community. A large part of this is viewing and sharing code snippets that myself or others produce.

The experience for this is sub par as it is not possible to share formatted code on Twitter, it can only really be done by sharing an image of code. This code then has to be typed out by hand in order to use it.

My concept is a social code snippet sharing application where users can create a snippet in code, give it a title, tag it as required and then share it (or keep it private if they so decide). This snippet is then visible to anyone and will appear in their follower's feeds who can subsequently "file" that snippet into one of their directories for reference at a later date.

The idea is to merge the best of note taking applications with the best of social media in order to provide a community that is actively creating, sharing and curating code snippets.

Initially I plan for this app to be free to anyone initially as I really think it will be a useful tool for developers to have in their belt. I would certainly like to add some streams for revenue generation in the future and have a few ideas for this, potentially by offering paid users unlimited private snippets as well as the ability to invite multiple users to collaborate on their snippets.
