September 1, 2020 I bought back SnipSnap

My co-founders and I launched SnipSnap in early 2012 and exited in mid-2015. The company that acquired it ended up going in a different direction and the app had been neglected for the past several years.

I had continued to work with the acquiring company over the years on a number of projects, including some minimal upkeep of the SnipSnap app. After a series of additional mergers and acquisitions in 2019 and 2020, they decided a few months ago to either shutdown or sell the app. I had maintained a good relationship with the company and was offered the opportunity to buy back the app on very reasonable terms. As of September 1st, 2020, I am now the new sole owner.

SnipSnap has over 5 million users accounts, but engagement and MAUs have dropped significantly in the past 2 years. Now begins the difficult works of reinvigorating the app and re-engaging its past users.
