SoCal.Startups

Directory of Southern California startups, investors and eve

September 18, 2026 I built a free directory of Southern California startups because none of the existing lists were any good.

I'm a solo founder in LA. Every list of local startups I found was either stale, paywalled, or built for recruiters, so I built my own: SoCal.Startups.

What's in it: 2,000+ companies by city and industry, investors with real check sizes and how they decide, accelerators, and LA Tech Week events. Funding rounds come in daily from news and SEC Form D filings and get cross-checked before they show up.

It's free to list. Three weeks in, the first Search Console data lands next week, and I'll post what it says.

What I'd like to know from people who've built directories: what got you your first real traffic, and what did you waste time on?
