August 31, 2026 Why I built an offline, local-first link vault to fix social media bookmark chaos

How many times have you saved a tweet, shared a link to your own WhatsApp, or taken a screenshot, only to never find it again when you needed it?

I got tired of losing valuable posts across different apps and dealing with bloated bookmark managers that require mandatory cloud sign-ups and monthly subscriptions just to search your own data.

I built Social Link Vault AI to make saving content an effortless daily habit:

  • One-Tap Share Sheet Capture: Save instantly from any app while automatically stripping tracking junk (utm_*, fbclid, igshid).

  • Instant Offline Search: Powered on-device by SQLite FTS5 for zero-latency full-text search across titles, URLs, tags, and notes.

  • 100% Privacy & Local-First: No mandatory accounts, zero media tracking permissions, and optional private Google Drive backups.

The app is currently in open beta on Google Play:

I'd love to hear your feedback on the capture flow, search speed, and overall UX!

The daily-habit angle feels more important than the storage itself. Curious whether early users are saving links because they already have a painful retrieval problem, or whether the one-tap capture is what makes them start saving things more consistently.

I guess early users are using the app to save links due to both reasons.
I'm working on a new release that will enhance the parsing experience dramatically, in addition to AI chatbot, more links health check features.
Users will be able to use their own AI API's keys to parse links metadata and chat with AI.
I will submit the new patch in the upcoming days. It's worth trying.

That makes sense. I’ll be interested to see how the new release changes how people use it once it’s out.
