Distraction-free writing app with no cloud lock-in
Every writing app I used kept interrupting me — notification badges, toolbars with forty buttons, a cursor that lags because a dozen plugins are running. And underneath it all, a question I couldn't shake: where do my words actually live? Some cloud server, behind a subscription I might lose access to one day?
So I built Solace — a writing app with nothing in the way. No notifications, no toolbars, no cloud lock-in. Every document is a plain .md file that lives in a folder on your computer. Focus mode dims everything but the paragraph you're working on, typewriter scrolling keeps your line centered.
It's a solo project, Windows only for now (Mac/Linux planned). One-time $25, no subscription, 14-day free trial with no account needed.
I'm at the stage of finding real writers to try it and tell me honestly what feels off before I do a proper launch. Would love feedback — good or brutal.

The distraction-free angle is appealing, but I'd keep validating what writers are really protecting. Is it fewer UI distractions, ownership of their work, or confidence that their writing won't disappear behind a subscription? One of those is likely the real reason they'll switch.
