My goal this year was to have 500 followers by end of year - I got 1k overnight 🤯

When it comes to yearly goals, I feel some people can be unrealistic and set unachievable goals only to end up feeling disappointed when they fail those goals.
My goal for 2023 was to take my automated Twitter account (@SorareAgent) from 66 followers to 500.
This would give me the perfect target audience when I'm ready to sell a paid service which has enough value for the followers to increase their performance on Sorare - whether that be via trading or from winning more / better prizes through the competitions on Sorare.
🎯 Originally missing my target launch
I had quietly launched my automated Twitter account (@SorareAgent) back in September 2022 and wanted to ensure that there was no issues with it before trying to grab the attention of the Sorare community.
I had worked all of 2022 and took off 7 weeks (unpaid) from my day-to-day job to try and get everything in place and have the account ready to help the Sorare community before the end of the summer transfer window (1st September) and sadly I missed that target.
As I got closer and closer to the end of the transfer window, I realistically knew that trying to launch and grab the attention of thousands with a relatively untested automated Twitter account was perhaps not the best idea.
My next target: 2023 January transfer window.
🚀 January 2023 - Time to publicly launch
The automated Twitter account had never been active during a live transfer window and I was nervous about announcing it before giving it a couple of weeks to ensure there would be no problems.
I gave it a few weeks and made some changes after witnessing some issues and then felt like it was the right time to make the announcement.
I shared this post to all the Sorare Discord communities and shared it on Reddit too.
At the time of writing, the total follower count is now a whopping 1,273
The reaction was overwhelming and I had never anticipated getting such a massive increase in followers overnight.
This is just the start and it's given me encouragement that perhaps one day, the idea of working full-time on Sorare Agent, my side project might not be so crazy after all.
I cannot thank those who have shared this tweet and spread the word about Sorare Agent enough, without them, there's no way I would have gained as many followers as I did.

Cool idea! I think there are some pretty cool opportunities for aggregating event base topics and tweeting them out for people to find easily. I for instance followed the Tahoe weather Twitter to see when there was snow. I am sure there are a ton more of these kinda ideas!
Are you planning on monetizing this at some point?-

For me this is the first step in building an audience which I can potentially sell a subscription service with similar useful information
It's impossible to sell a service no matter how amazing it is if nobody knows about it
The higher the follower count, the easier I believe it should be in capturing a percentage of that number and converting into paying customers in the future

Interesting how did you automate?

There was a few steps involved:
- Building a DB so I knew which clubs were licensed on Sorare and also which transfers had already been covered
- Web scrape transfer data
- Filter out any transfers which were not for licensed clubs
- Gather all of the new transfers and compose a tweet depending on how many new ones there had been
- Run a cron job to do this x3 times a day

Wow that's really cool. I always struggles immensely with getting any social media past 10 followers that are mostly bots.

I do feel two factors helped me gain an initial following
- The information I had was already being searched for by Sorare managers
I did this in the past when I heard of a transfer, I'd immediately search Twitter to find out if the player will be a starter for the club or has been brought in as backup
- The account had Twitter Blue
Definitely noticed an uptick in the amount of follows I was getting after purchasing it and I assume this was because my tweets were being pushed to the top of the search results
