51 free tools for smarter money decisions + focus music
Hey IH 👋
I'm building SorryClub — a collection of 51 productivity and financial tools, focus music, and articles. All in one place, mostly free.
The problem I kept running into
Every time I needed to calculate something — "Can I actually afford this mortgage?", "What's my real hourly rate after commute and prep time?", "When can I FIRE?" — I'd Google it, land on some ad-infested site, get a half-baked answer, and close the tab.
I wanted one clean place where I could just... think about my money without being sold something.
What I built
- 51 tools — FIRE calculator, compound interest, mortgage vs rent, debt payoff planner, freelance tax estimator, salary negotiation prep, net worth tracker, and a bunch more. Most are completely free. The advanced stuff (scenario saving, Monte Carlo simulations, W-2 vs 1099 comparisons) is behind a $4.99/mo PRO plan.
- Focus music radio — Lo-fi, ambient, acoustic tracks with synced lyrics. I got tired of YouTube lo-fi streams dying mid-session. This just works — press play, get to work.
- Articles — Bite-sized reads on personal finance and productivity. No fluff, no "10 ways to save money by not buying coffee" nonsense.
The honest numbers
I'm not going to pretend this is a rocketship. Growth is slow. Most traffic comes from SEO on high-intent keywords (people googling "paycheck calculator" or "compound interest calculator"). Conversion to PRO is modest.
But the tools are genuinely useful, and people who find them tend to stick around.
Tech stack (for the nerds)
Next.js 16 + React 19, Vercel, TiDB Serverless (MySQL), Cloudflare R2 for media, Lemon Squeezy for payments. Dark mode by default.
The entire thing is one repo, one developer, and a lot of caffeine.
What I've learned so far
1. Free tools are underrated as acquisition channels. A BMI calculator or typing test brings in people who'd never search for a financial planning suite. But once they're in, they explore.
2. Bundling beats unbundling. There are 100 standalone FIRE calculators out there. But having FIRE + mortgage + net worth + debt payoff in one place with saved scenarios? That's a different value prop.
3. Don't overthink pricing. $4.99/mo. Simple. No tiers confusion.

Happy to answer any questions about the stack, the business model, or why I thought building 51 tools was a reasonable idea (it wasn't, but here we are).
About
Every financial calculator I found online was slow, bloated, or trying to sell me something. I wanted one clean place to think about money and stay focused. So I built 51 tools and a lo-fi radio — all in one app.
