Git started to gain serious momentum, so we needed to add Git hosting support to our platform. I took this opportunity to rewrite our control panel and platform and launch SourceRepo as an updated version of SVNRepository which now included Git hosting. We also quickly saw a need for Redmine hosting and added automatic Redmine project setup to our control panel shortly after launch.

February 1, 2008 Launched SVNRepository.com

After seeing all of my hosting customers at RailsPlayground.com struggle setting up SVN Repsitory and Trac hosting. I wrote a control panel in Ruby on Rails to automate the process of creating repositories, users, and automatic setup of Trac.

In additional to giving this away to my RailsPlayground customer, I also came up with plans for just SVN hosting. We came out way before github was on the market and were one of the first source code hosting companies with an easy to use automated control panel.

A version of this service is still available for legacy customers.

About

I created SourceRepo originally because it was difficult to setup Subversion and Trac hosting in a shared environment and my customers at RailsPlayground needed a solution. We have since added Git and Redmine hosting.
