Space4
Stay focused, be productive, and connect with other people.
Yesterday we launched Space4 on Hacker News and got to the front page! I forgot to track page views, but it received about 100 new signups (with real emails).
However, people tried the app then never came back. Although the landing page has improvements to make, it should not be the biggest problem because there were some signups. I guess there is something wrong with the app design or even the fundamental concept of the app.
I am still trying to figure out what the problem is and what I should do next. I posted on the Indiehackers forum and tried to look for some bits of help.
Now I should take a break and relax.
It took 7 weeks, but I'm finally done building the minimum viable product for Space4. I worked mostly mornings on weekdays and I coded the whole thing in Next.Js since that's what I'm the most comfortable with. There is no backend, but a MongoDB database. In hindsight, there were a few features I built that probably could've waited until later. But I'm excited to start talking to customers and see what they think about the product so far!

I believed I was hardworking and productive until I saw my wife working from home during the pandemic.
While I was constantly distracted from social media, coffee brewing, and the stock market, my wife was always in the zone. She was often able to finish her work after a couple of hours, then go watch TikTok lying on the couch.
What a lazy person she is, I thought. However, soon I found out it was not the case. She accomplished a lot by focusing her best time and energy on doing important tasks. Then she regained her energy by relaxing and having fun afterward.
I was inspired. I started to find ways to train my brain to focus better and longer. It worked out pretty well, and I did become much more productive.
Then I had the idea to put the pieces that worked to help me focus better to build an app. Space4 was born.

I built the app to help myself focus better. So I can spend the best of my time on the things that truly matter. 💪
