Spare Cloud
Backup your cloud storage accounts.
Since I haven't yet launched my product, I figure I would attempt to see what kind of interest exists already. So I went ahead and posted on the /r/SAAS subreddit's weekly post. Hoping that people see my site and sign up with their email for the launch.

I've been having this issue with user's authentication expiring after 7 days. I tried several times to use the refresh token properly.. ends up I was. The reason it expires is because I am using a Google App in "test" mode. Therefore, I submitted my app for verification today.
One change I had to make was putting my privacy policy & TOS in "final" locations + update the "Login with Google" button to meet the branding guidelines offered up. Hopefully things will go well and they will accept it :) If not.. then it kind of defeats the entire purpose of "set it and forget" I am attempting to achieve.

I struggled with a long time with getting Google Oauth to play nicely with my auth service and domain config. And the whole time, it was like <every website on the planet has Google login, how can it be this painful?>
So I don't have any solutions, I just want to say that if it gets frustrating, it's not you and you're not the only one.

In fact, I'm still struggling with how to get people from native apps on iPhone through Google Oauth login. Google doesn't like embedded browsers, so the user needs to switch to an OS-based browser, but that's a funky flow.
What a pain!

Thanks for the support @brianpk ! I'm sure I'll get it working as this isn't my first time dealing with google auth. It's just the verification process I am waiting on at this point to go into production. And of course, since this is for myself I'm a bit anxious.

Last weekend I started working on a production version of the app. There are a few approval processes I need to go through for third party systems, so hoping that goes well. Bit nervous, as the app really only meets my own needs right now, but I'm sure I can add features that other people will find value in.
Thinking... Gdrive, dropbox, and box.net backup to any object store? TBD.
Feel free to signup for the waitlist. I'll be letting in a few people at a time :)
or follow me on twitter to see me build in public :)

After a long weekend spent filling out documents related to both my February cross-country move and taxes, I realized all my files were located in only one single cloud storage account. At first, I thought this was fine, but then I went to browse reddit – I found horror story after horror story. The internet led me down a rabbit hole of stories where people had their accounts deactivated for varying periods, ranging from temporary to permanent bans.
As my anxiety grew, I dedicated the following days to brainstorming a solution. At first, I thought about manually backing up all my files to an external hard drive, but the tedious and repetitive nature of the task was something I wasn't keen on.
After a few days, I developed a fully automated solution and let it run for a few months. Each day, it would back up my files on my local computer. This worked great, so long as my laptop was turned on. So, I decided to move the system to a server. This seemed like the best possible option, and I figured I might as well offer the service to others. Thus, SpareCloud was born.

I started reading about all of the issues people have where they can't get access to their storage accounts because of a big company cut them off. #chargebacks
