How a simple trips tracker evolved into a full platform to run my entire business
For the past couple of years, I’ve been building small tools for myself.
It started with a simple trips tracker. I travel often, and I wanted something minimal to track trips, expenses, and notes — without the complexity of existing apps.
That project worked well. I used it daily.
But then I noticed a bigger problem.
Running an independent business meant juggling multiple tools:
Contacts in one place
Expenses somewhere else
Invoices in another tool
Travel details in my trips app
Notes and business context scattered everywhere
Nothing connected well. Everything felt fragmented.
Most tools were either:
Too complex (built for large teams), or
Too narrow (solved only one part of the problem)
I didn’t want another tool. I wanted a system.
So I started extending my trips app.
Slowly, it evolved:
First contacts.
Then expenses.
Then invoices.
Then business context.
At some point, I realized I wasn’t building a trips app anymore.
I was building a platform to run my entire business.
What makes it different is that it grew from real usage, not from a feature checklist. Every module exists because I needed it.
I’ve now been using it as my primary system.
This is the first time I’m sharing it publicly.
I’m curious:
How are other independent builders managing their business operations?
Are you using multiple tools, or have you found a system that works well?
Would love to learn from others here.
About
Our journey started with a simple problem: managing successful businesses while traveling the world with our family. We couldn't find a single platform that respected both sides of our identity. So, we built one.
