August 17, 2026 Nobody notices stale API docs until a developer files a bug

API documentation rots in a specific way. It is accurate the day it ships, then the API changes, and the docs keep confidently describing a version that no longer exists. Nobody on the team notices, because nobody on the team reads their own docs. You find out when a developer files a bug against behaviour you removed months ago.

Specway treats the OpenAPI spec as the source of truth rather than a starting point. Point it at a spec URL and the docs regenerate when the spec changes, so drift is not possible in the first place. Around that: breaking change detection with alerts, an AI chatbot trained on your docs so the common questions never reach a human, a playground for trying calls, custom branding and domains, and MCP server generation so agents can consume the API too.

The design decision I keep having to defend is refusing to let people hand-edit generated pages. It sounds unfriendly. It is the whole point. The moment hand edits are allowed, the generated and the written versions diverge, and you are back to maintaining documentation by hand while paying for a tool that promised you would not have to.

There is a free tier if you want to point it at a spec and see what comes out.
