Introducing SpeedRun

SpeedRun is an API-first business designed to make adding a gamification layer to any SaaS product quick and easy. Our mission is to make the web more fun by helping SaaS entrepreneurs find creative ways to motivate and inspire their users.

The idea for SpeedRun came about during a failed attempt to launch a video-based learning platform for kids. We knew that gamification, when applied thoughtfully, can foster engaging, meaningful interactions for brands and build loyal followings. However, the infrastructure required to support compelling gamified experiences is time consuming and expensive to implement. As a result, our app ended up with surface-level gamification functionality that masked deeper issues with our core user experience.

SpeedRun will offer simple APIs for common game paradigms that seamlessly blend into the key user actions that drive value in your product. We'll help you understand the behavioral psychology that makes these techniques effective, to ensure you remain safely in white hat territory. The initial feature set will include:

  • Achievements
  • Streaks
  • Badges
  • Levels
  • Leaderboards

To make implementation as simple as possible, we will offer a UI widget that can be dropped into any web page and customized to match your brand. For more advanced use cases, we'll offer APIs that allow you to customize the view layer however you'd like.

SpeedRun is currently in a private, pre-release phase. We are working to build out version 1 of the API. We'd greatly appreciate any feedback, and would love to hear any stories you have about creating gamified experiences on the web.
