Title: Building Sprigloop, a baby clothes inventory + pass-along app,

before our first kid is born

Hey. I'm Chris, solo dev in Detroit, building Sprigloop in evenings

and weekends while my wife and I get ready for our first kid (a few

months out).

The trigger. A relative dropped off a bag of baby clothes for us.

I sorted them by size and started worrying about what we'd do with all

of it once our kid grew out. Most baby clothes end up in landfill.

Some sit in basements until the kid graduates from high school. A

small share get passed on to another family. That third path is the

right one, and almost nobody does it because the logistics are a mess.

What it is. Sprigloop is a baby clothes inventory with a built-in

pass-along flow. You add what you have, sized by age. A wishlist tab

tells you what a typical wardrobe looks like at each stage (apparently

a newborn needs way more bodysuits than I'd guessed). You can point

your phone at a clothing tag and the app pulls brand and size off

automatically.

When something doesn't fit anymore, you tell the app and we mail you a

prepaid bag. You fill it, write a name on it, drop it in any mailbox.

Goes to a friend you pick, another Sprigloop family who opted in to

receive, or a charity.

Stack. React + Supabase + Vercel. The interesting bits: an email

lifecycle program with 13 templates dispatched through a Postgres

outbox + pg_cron instead of Studio webhooks, a 26-test Playwright e2e

suite, a real admin dashboard with funnel analytics, and a trial flow

that lets visitors poke around as anonymous Supabase users before

signing up. The upgrade modal converts them inline when they want to

actually save things.

Model. Free for users, no plan to charge. Long-term I'm hoping

affiliate revenue from curated recommendations (real products parents

would buy anyway) keeps it sustainable. Not selling household data.

The privacy policy tries to be specific about that.

Where I am. App is live at sprigloop.com but pre-real-users. Soft

launching this week through cold LinkedIn outreach to mommy bloggers

and parenting marketers, plus this post.

What I'd love feedback on.

- The landing. Does it click in 10 seconds, or am I burying what this is?

- The trial flow. Tap "Try Sprigloop free", add an item. Anything that

made you bounce?

- The voice. Trying to write it parent-to-parent, not as a baby brand.

Reads that way, or am I fooling myself?

Honest feedback is the whole reason I'm posting. Tear it apart.
