How we came up with our idea for Splitstack.co

Me and my partner redChili co-founded 2 startups together.

A little background about ourselves: I'm a self-taught web developer and CRO specialist and he's a real geek.

The idea for Splitstack came out from a problem that we've encountered in running one of our startups (a real-time lead generation marketplace).

Everyday we run multiple campaigns for our clients and we need to know which landing page is performing better (= more conversions).

Of course we run all sorts of testing and we've found out that we need a better solution of what's out there.

Some cons of the majority of the tools we've tried:

• client-side tools offer very limited capability in term of editing (you can make just some little changes on the page);
• they often suffer from the flicker effect (when the visitor is shown the control quickly before seeing the correct variant);
• you often need to know your stuff around analytics to understand and gather the results;
• they are way too expensive, expecially server-side solutions, and often over-featured.

We thought there should be an easier way to do it!

Entering Splitstack, a server-side split URL testing tool at an affordable price and with easy-to-read analytics integrated. All in one.

You won't need to be an expert to use it.

Here how it will work:

• You create and host your landing pages (no limit in numbers)
• Upload the URLs on Splitstack
• Decide how the traffic should be split (%) over each landing page
• We give you back ONE SINGLE LINK, that you can place wherever you want (Newsletters, Facebook Ads, Google Ads....)
• We'll take care of splitting the traffic over all your landing page variations from the back-end through that single link.
• You will be able to track how every single landing page is performing in real-time, through an easy-to-use dashboard, where you will be able to monitor clicks, conversions (% and #), traffic.

We decided to build Splitstack publicly starting tomorrow and share the process along the way.
