Sponsor posts like you would podcast episodes
The landing page is up, with signups for both content owners and advertisers: https://sponsorpost.co
I've also created a WordPress plugin that allows any site to set up sponsor post ads on their content.
The payments and distribution side is all manual still though. So only invited one content site to try this yet, will do manual sales to see if advertisers like the model.
I read a blog post by Manuel Moreales (https://manuelmoreale.com/adoption-sponsorships) which got me thinking that it's really weird that you can't just buy ads on great content.
This was the staple of ads until the invention of google ad words, and it's used to great success on podcasts now. So why not blogs?
I couldn't stop thinking about this. So I decided to try it out.
My assumption is that people want to buy ads on relevant quality content.
But the advertiser wants the ad to be cheap, and the content creator wants to earn more than cents for it to be worth it?
This dichotomy is solved by the main feature: buying ads on specific content pieces. You buy ads for something like 5 bucks. But for that price it stays there for 2 weeks.
Now let's see if this model works!

Ads are strange. You buy them in bulk in contexts you're not aware of, just hoping it works. Why can't you just find all the posts related to your product and buy ads on them? SponsorPost lets you do that.
