Free live football scores, transfers & AI match analysis

August 7, 2026 I built a free football stats site with zero betting/gambling links - here's why

Most football sites either bury you in betting odds or lock content behind a paywall. SportCells is my attempt at neither: live scores and tables across the Premier League, Champions League, LaLiga, Serie A, Bundesliga and Ligue 1, confirmed transfers with real fees (not rumours), and no gambling links anywhere on the site.

A few things I'm proud of:

  • Match predictions are a transparent stats model (form + home advantage), not betting-odds data repackaged

  • AI match analysis and club news are fact-grounded and cached — generated once, not re-rolled per visitor

  • A 450-article "Football Explained" series (why the away-goals rule exists, what gegenpressing means, etc.) ended up driving more traffic than the live scores themselves

Solo project, still small. Curious what this community thinks is missing or whether "no betting" is a real selling point or just leaves money on the table.

August 7, 2026 The "boring" feature outperforming my main product (450 explainer articles beat live scores)

I built SportCells expecting live scores and league tables to be the draw. They're not.

The top traffic driver is a glossary series called "Football Explained." 450 short articles answering plain questions people actually search: why does the away goals rule exist, what is gegenpressing, why do players walk out holding kids' hands. No live data, no real time updates, just fact checked answers.

Turns out that content also gets picked up by AI answer engines (ChatGPT is already a referrer), since a short factual answer is exactly what those tools want to quote. My live scores page can't compete with that. It's accurate but not citable in the same way.

Lesson so far: the "boring" reference content compounds. The flashy real time feature doesn't, it just resets every matchday. Curious if others building content heavy products have seen the same split.

The all-in-one approach is interesting. I’m curious what you’ve learned so far from early users — are people mainly coming because they want fewer tools, or because of a specific workflow you solve better?

Most football sites bury you in betting odds or a paywall. I wanted a free, clean alternative - live scores, transfers, and stats with zero gambling links. Built it because that site didn't exist.
