When we launched in April, we had put out Google search ads and got some initial traffic. A few hundred hits, 30+ signups and 28 evidence downloads. Considering we were giving away evidence (comparable properties) for free, we expected way more people to signup. May be people were hesitant since we were a newbie!

With Harris County's appeal season complete, we looked at how effective our evidences were. Based on county published data, 22 of them got reductions on their assessed value! With an average reduction of ~$27K! County average was ~$18K. Well, not bad for a newbie! Whats more -- we found out that homeowners who appeal by themselves get more reductions quickly! Product launched! It took 7 months for us to build - https://squaredeal.tax/. Squaredeal is a technology platform for homeowners to get the bext possible comps (comparable properties), so they can successfully protest their propertyt tax assessments. Since, the product is seasonal, (people use it once a year - taxes are an annual affair :)), our iterative development window is annual! But, based on insights with working in the domain and helpful hints from a good friend, who is a domain veteran, we went ahead and built the full fledged product. Yeah..no MVP!

Made available for Harris County, Texas, homeowners, to begin with.

Made the blog site live with the first set of articles. Being a newbie soloprenuer, I was inclined more towards getting the product done. Product development is what I do for a living :)

But, based on advise from a good friend, started putting up content first. "Organic traffic takes time" was the advise!
