December 10, 2019 Soft Launch

I soft launched Squeeeezed, deciding on hosting on Firebase. I settled on the name, got the logo and bought the domain. At this point I am ready to launch with three main features

  1. Scatterplot of most shorted companies
  2. Table to sort and filter companies based on a range of different indicators.
  3. Provide detailed information on each company.

Next step is to register a company and make the launch official....and then focus on getting some traffic and some early adopters. I think the idea has legs, but I need to get it validated.

November 15, 2019 Found FE Framework and enabled Authentication

Every since finding Bulma I wanted to do something with it and this seemed like perfect opportunity to go ahead. Being as easy to implement as it is, it took little time to get it running.

I also started using Auth0 for all authentication. I am a big fan of Auth0 and always wanted to use it outside of my day job to explore its full functionality. Easy setup and great docs made this a breeze.

October 30, 2019 Got the POC working

Using my financial data API, I was able to build a range of input selectors to allow the user to quickly scan and filter a big data set and find heavily shorted stocks. I used React and a few open source libraries to see this through to POC. At this point I realised there was something that could be of interest to people and I made the decision to look for a FE framework to make it look great.

October 15, 2019 The idea

Browsing through a financial data API I am subscribed to, I noticed they extended the API to include data on how much companies are shorted. Knowing this is information some people care about, I wondered if there was a good way to display this data and make it more interactive and accessible than other companies in the space do it.
