Build REST APIs in minutes without writing any code

January 19, 2021 250 Signups

Stackprint had a successful launch day on Product Hunt back in December! The results from the day are:

187 votes
904 unique visitors
71 new signups
#15 product of the day

What's even nicer to see is that Stackprint's user base has been gradually growing by 1-5 users per day since then and we're happy to celebrate our 250th user signing up today πŸŽ‰

The main sources for our gradual growth are:

  • SEO (Google)
  • Fellow IndieHackers
  • Twitter
  • No-code portals

Our focus now is to keep up the growth rate and connect with our users to understand what they're building with Stackprint and how we can help them further πŸ’ͺ

December 16, 2020 Launching on Product Hunt today

Stackprint is live on Product Hunt today πŸŽ‰ You can follow the launch here: https://www.producthunt.com/posts/stackprint

Stackprint is a web platform to quickly build REST APIs without having to write any code yourself. Simply define the resources that your API should manage and Stackprint deploys your REST API with one click.

Stackprint has come a long way since launching in beta earlier this year. I have completely restructured and redesigned the web app, added more examples, better documentation and did dozens of other small fixes and improvements to ensure building REST APIs with Stackprint is easy and intuitive and Stackprint APIs are fast and stable. Last week I have deployed the biggest change to Stackprint since the beta β€” the new API Editor was the last big feature that was missing on my roadmap to launch Stackprint, so here we are πŸ™‚

The fact that I'm launching Stackprint doesn't by any means mean that I consider it complete, there's already a long list of features on the roadmap for Stackprint 2.0!

September 8, 2020 Just passed 50 beta users

Last weekend the 50th beta user signed up for Stackprint πŸŽ‰

Most beta users signed up as a result of Stackprint's beta launch on BetaList a few months ago. I cut back marketing activities at the time to focus on analyzing how the first users are using the platform and checked in personally with everyone who signed up.

With those first insights in hand, I redesigned the user interface and restructured the documentation to follow the workflow of the app a bit better and make it easier to build REST APIs and start using them.

Over the time more users signed up, mostly coming from Twitter, Hacker News and of course a few fellow IndieHackers! The first analytics results from users working with the UI look promising, more users manage to deploy their first API and connect to them from their custom apps.

There are still a few small bugs and feature requests that I want to address before getting rid of the beta label, but it's not far out anymore πŸ’ͺ

June 1, 2020 First 25 users

After an initial quiet beta launch I submitted Stackprint to BetaList and it got featured for a day. As a result, the first 25 users signed up for Stackprint! :)

I have personally reached out to the users who signed up and received the first bug reports and general feedback which already greatly helps with setting the course towards getting Stackprint out of Beta!

March 15, 2020 Launched Stackprint into Beta

After several months of development next to a pretty stressful phase in my day job I finally had the guts to launch Stackprint into Beta.

The moment I decided to take the step was when experimenting with the platform for a blog post. I challenged myself to write a full web application to manage personal notes as quickly as possible and was able to generate a suitable Stackprint REST API with Auth0 integration and permission management in minutes.

Although I had (and still have) a lot of items on my TODO list, that was the moment when I decided that the platform, even in it's current very early and unfinished stage can actually provide value to other hackers.

It was a big step for me but it feels good to finally have the product out in the world and having first positive feedback coming in :)

About

While working on my side projects, I've spent a lot of time building and deploying basic REST APIs. I've combined my tools into a basic REST API generator hoping that it'll save fellow hackers some time :)
