StandupPro
The simplest team priority and communication tool.
This is a big milestone we're really excited about. We've just finished integrating payment via Stripe and I emailed a recent customer about upgrading to our Paid Plan, and they're in! The first thing we needed to prove was that once users signed up, they would keep using the software. The next thing we needed to prove was that they would pay for the software -- so that's now in progress! Now we need to get more...and we need to find ways to get more customers in cost-effective ways. This is really just the beginning, but it's been a steady long road to get here so we want to celebrate it!
During COVID it became apparent that many executive/leadership teams wanted to hold standups while working remotely to stay aligned, but they didn't want to share their Main Goals with other teams in the organization because sometimes those Goals related to sensitive subjects involved with navigating the COVID crisis. Enter: Private Teams. We hacked this together at first for our biggest customer, who had an urgent need, and just today launched it publicly for all customers in the right way.

Our Beta users have tracked more than 3,000 daily goals! The Hit Rate of 70% is a little low -- typically 90% is what we think the ideal number is -- but it feels really amazing to have helped teams prioritize their days with intent and Hit over 2,000 goals so far. We built this to enable teams to communicate better and prioritize more effectively, and user retention has been amazing so far. Excited to help more teams!

It took 22 issues, but I reached a milestone of 100 subscribers to my "One Shareable Thing" newsletter, a weekly email for business leaders and managers. I created the newsletter in part to generate leads for StandupPro. I've gotten solid feedback on the newsletter itself and it has raised some awareness for StandupPro, but it has not led to any accounts on StandupPro (yet). I think I've learned it's not the most efficient lead gen channel and is more of a long-term play. (https://www.getrevue.co/profile/trent-hawthorne)

Woot! Did this by asking current users directly, and also by using Capterra's Reviews-as-a-Service feature (which is free). Capterra will send gift cards to users who leave honest reviews. Apparently getting more than 10 reviews is important because it increases the lead-to-conversion % from 4.6% (0 reviews) to 7.1% (10+ reviews).

After years of getting companies to use the meeting framework in Google Sheets, Juan and I finally launched the web app in October 2019. We onboarded our first workspace which included 10 users. We learned that user & team management was more needed early on than we thought!

In 2016 I recognized that a simple meeting framework our company had introduced in 2015 had completely transformed they way we worked, communicated, and prioritized. It was a modified Daily Standup Meeting with everyone on our team. Each person would only talk about ONE main goal for that day.

Developing & implementing this simple framework turned around my entire company of 15 people a few years ago. I've used it ever since, and it works for me. I want to see if it's as useful for other business leaders.
