StepListen was born from my personal struggle with language learning. As a non-native English speaker, I often found myself rewinding audio materials countless times, trying to catch every word native speakers said. It was frustrating and time-consuming.

One day, while studying with a podcast, I had to replay a single sentence more than 20 times to finally understand it. That's when I realized: there must be a better way. I wanted a tool that could automatically break down audio into manageable segments, allowing me to focus on one phrase at a time - just like reading a book sentence by sentence.

This personal need drove me to create StepListen. I envisioned a tool that would:

- Break down audio into natural segments

- Allow easy repetition of difficult parts

- Provide speed control for better comprehension

- Work with any audio content the learner chooses

The goal wasn't just to build another audio player, but to create a learning companion that makes native-speed content more approachable and less intimidating for language learners.
