August 2, 2025 Launched Stock Pigeon - Real-time Inventory Management for Shopify

Hey,

I just launched Stock Pigeon, an inventory management app for Shopify stores that helps prevent stockouts through smart alerts and forecasting.

The Problem: Running out of stock is one of the most preventable causes of lost revenue for e-commerce stores, yet most merchants still rely on manual checks or find out too late when products are sold out.

The Solution - Stock Pigeon:

  • Real-time alerts when inventory hits custom thresholds (email/Slack)

  • Sales velocity forecasting to predict stockout dates

  • Days of cover calculations for each SKU

  • Inventory value and margin tracking

Development Journey:

  • Several hundred hours of development over 4 months

  • Built with Node.js, React, and Shopify Polaris

  • Launched July 28th on the Shopify App Store

  • Pricing: $4.99-$19.99/month with 14-day free trial

Current Status:

  • App is live and fully functional

  • Focusing on user acquisition and gathering feedback from first users

Key Differentiators:

  • Slack integration included in all plans (competitors charge extra)

  • More affordable than established players

  • Clean, intuitive interface

  • Advanced forecasting in higher tiers

Looking for Insights On:

  1. Most effective channels for acquiring first B2B SaaS customers

  2. Pricing strategy feedback - competitive analysis shows we're near competitor prices

  3. Best practices for Shopify App Store optimization with no reviews

  4. Strategies for building trust as a new app in the ecosystem

If you're building in the Shopify ecosystem or have experience with B2B SaaS launches, I'd appreciate any insights. Happy to share technical learnings about Shopify app development.

About

I work with Shopify merchants and one of the consistent areas where most lose profit is by not staying on top of inventory. I wanted to make a simple, cheap app that would allow sellers to stay in stock.
